William Hill was founded in London in 1934 as a telephone bookmaking business and created its first licensed betting offices in 1966.
William Hill is operated by WHG (International) Limited a company registered in Gibraltar. William Hill is licensed by the Gambling Commission ( Number: 000-039225 R-319373-009 ) for customers in Great Britain, and licensed by the Gibraltar Government and regulated by the Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner (RGL no. 034 & 042) for all other customers. For latest William Hill terms and conditions please check the William Hill website for updates. General Betting Rules: The purpose of these Rules, which cover all transactions from August 2000, is to detail the terms and conditions under which bets are accepted by our online service at.
In June 2002, William Hill was floated on the London Stock Exchange. In 2005, it acquired Stanley Leisure plc’s licensed betting offices in the UK and Ireland, which resulted in William Hill becoming the UK’s largest bookmaker.
The William Hill app is the home of mobile betting and boasts a host of features that make it the number one sports betting app in the world. Available on iOS and Android, bet on live sports, watch live streams and enjoy William Hill’s betting shop TV and radio stations to enhance your betting experience. William Hill knows that for Irish football fans, football betting is important. With William Hill, members can easily place bets on all the matches, all the leagues, all the players all the time. Online betting is easy whether you’re wagering on the English Premier League, the Northern Irish Premiership, or any match around the world.
William Hill’s business strategy is based on these pillars:
- Multi-channel: capture an increasing share of customers’ gambling spend across both the retail and online channels in the UK.
- International diversification: leverage the company’s expertise in international markets to grow non-UK revenues and profits thereby diversifying and reducing business risk.
- Technology: use technology to provide a competitively differentiated product suite.
William Hill’s believes sports betting, which it considers one of its main areas of expertise, is the most important product for attracting and retaining online customers in the UK. This is because it targets the largest single segment of the online gambling population, has a relatively low cost per acquisition, the longest customer lifespan and the best cross-selling potential along with the greatest opportunity for product differentiation.
William Hill is comprised of four businesses:
- The high street-based operation in the UK, with approximately 2,370 licensed betting offices, which provide betting opportunities on a wide range of sporting and non-sporting events, gaming on machines and numbers-based products including lotteries.
The UK is William Hill’s primary market.
- Digital betting and gaming via www.williamhill.com providing customers with the opportunity to access William Hill’s products online.
The UK online market, including mobile, is the fastest growing segment of the UK gambling industry.
- William Hill Australia, which offers online betting in the Australian market.
- William Hill US, which operates sports books in Nevada and is the exclusive bookmaker to the Delaware state sports lottery.
William Hill’s betting products are divided into two categories: sports betting and betting on other events. The most popular sports betting products are horse racing, football, tennis and greyhound racing. William Hill also offers odds on many other sports such as rugby, cricket, golf, motor racing, darts, snooker, American football, Australian Rules football, baseball, basketball and ice hockey.
William Hill accepts a range of different types of bets from simple bets on the outcome of a single event to more complex bets, such as accumulator bets on the outcome of a number of different matches or sporting events.
Other events include bets on non-sporting events, such as the outcome of political elections, television competitions and popular music chart results, as well as high profile novelty bets.
William Hill’s gaming products, whose outcome is dependent on chance, include slot machine games (played either on physical machines or online), casino games, bingo, poker and other skill games. Skill games, are games, it is argued, where the odds can be changed over the long run based on the application of skill (for example, games between customers such as poker).
With William Hill’s gaming products, the customer bets against the house and the William Hill makes its profit based on probabilities in the long run of different events occurring and uses “house” rules and procedures to apply risk limits.
William Hill has extensive experience in the following risk management and bookmaking procedures, which it believes are essential to operating a profitable betting operation:
- Imposing bet acceptance limits.
- Hedging.
- Expert odds compilation.
In addition, the breadth of betting opportunities that William Hill offers to customers, enable the company to spread its risk over a large number of events.
William Hill’s gaming products (casino games, slots, poker and bingo) increase the company’s opportunities to cross-sell multiple products to customers, maximising the customer spend across channels. Profits from its gaming products gaming are more predictable than sports betting margins, which fluctuate, and provide a more stable source of revenue for the company.
William Hill has rolled out self service betting terminals in its high street betting shops. The goal of this is to bring the massive product range that it has created for its online customers available to its retail customers.
In the UK, in-play betting and mobile gambling have been the key drivers of growth in the past few years. William Hill, along with much of the gambling industry, relies on third party software suppliers for its online offerings. William Hill’s intention is to develop more of its software in-house, in order to bring customers a more differentiated offering and to deliver innovations to customers faster and more frequently.
Part of William Hill’s online offering provides destination-themed gaming. Alongside its Vegas product suite, William Hill provides a Macau casino along with a “Mayfair” branded product offering.

Maximum Winnings :
A betting slip is accepted on the basis that it is the investment of one customer only and the following are the maximum amounts that can be won (excluding stake) by one customer in one day's betting regardless of stake. These maximums will still apply even if by taking prices the level of potential winnings exceeds these amounts.
The following maximum amounts that can be won by one customer in one day's betting will apply even if bets have been placed through more than one betting channel (i.e Internet, Telephone Betting or Licensed Betting Offices).
Where bets have been placed on different days, 'the maximum amount that can be won in one day's betting' is determined by the day on which the final race/event on each bet is resolved, rather than the day on which each individual bet is placed.
Should a number of bets, containing the same selection(s) be placed in one or more of our branches, and we have reason to believe they have originated from one customer or group/syndicate of customers acting together, then we reserve the right to limit the total payment of all those bets combined to the single maximum payout applicable in these rules.
Where selections taken from the different categories listed below are combined in multiple or accumulative bets the lowest maximum winnings limit will apply.
Throughout these rules reference is made to a 'full service'. This means shows, offs and results, broadcast by SIS or an alternative external supplier and displayed on our text screens, on a race by race basis.

Bets other than Ante Post bets (for Ante Post bets, please see Rule 12) will be void if the race or event is abandoned or declared void. If postponed to another day and overnight declarations stand, then bets stand providing the venue is not altered or the running surface is not altered (e.g. Turf to Dirt / All Weather or vice versa). If the overnight declarations do not stand or the venue is altered or the running surface is altered (e.g. turf to Dirt / all weather or vice versa), bets will be void. If, for any reason, races are set back to later in the day, the settling of all bets will be governed by the time advertised in The Racing Post (e.g. if you stipulate the 2.00 race and that race is run at 2.30 the bet will stand for the 2.00 race as advertised).
Time of Acceptance :
If, for any reason, a bet is inadvertently accepted after the event or match has started and the event in question is not covered by our live betting in the run service (if this is the case then it will be clearly marked as 'Live Betting'), the selection(s) affected will be made void if, at the time the bet was placed, the race or event was resolved or at a stage where the client could have had any indication of the outcome.
Where the official 'Off' of a race is not announced, bets are accepted up to the advertised time of the race. Any bet which is accepted later than the advertised time of the race will be void unless we are satisfied that the bet was accepted before the actual 'Off'.
In the event of there being a dispute over the time at which a bet was placed, then the time at which it was recorded on the Transactional log will govern the settlement.

Settlement of Bets :
Bets are settled according to the displayed odds/prices at the time the bet is confirmed. For Horse and Greyhound racing only, if prices/odds are not offered or requested, bets are settled at Starting Price returns.
Bets are settled to Win unless “Each Way” is selected. An Each Way bet is a bet of twice the selected unit stake. It contains one bet of unit stake on the selection to win, and one bet of unit stake on the selection to “place” according to the terms advertised for the event.
Example:
£10 Each Way – Tiger Woods to win US Masters
Win Odds: 9.00 (or 8/1 in fractional odds), Place Terms ¼ of the fractional odds a place 1,2,3,4.
If Tiger Wins, both Win and Place bets are winners:
£10 at 9.00 = £90, plus £10 at 3.00 (¼ of 8/1) = £30, Total Returns £120
For other events on which each way bets are accepted, settlement will be based on the odds and place terms applicable when the bet is taken. These terms are shown on the website.
For the purpose of calculation, Each Way Doubles, Trebles etc. are settled as two distinct bets i.e. win on to win and place on to place.
In a DEAD HEAT the stake money on a selection is divided by the number of runners involved in the dead heat. The full odds are then paid to the divided stake, with the remainder of the stake money being lost.
Where a selection is made void or does not run, then in Single bets the stake will be returned. In accumulative bets the stake will run on to the remaining selection(s) with a Double becoming a Single, a Treble becoming a Double and so on.
IN A HORSE OR GREYHOUND RACE WHERE NO OFFICIAL OR INDUSTRY STARTING PRICE IS RETURNED, BETS WHERE NO PRICE IS TAKEN (INCLUDING FORECASTS, TRICASTS, AND UNAMED FAVOURITES) WILL BE SETTLED USING THE CLOSING PRICES DISPLAYED BY WILLIAM HILL.
WHERE NO PRICES ARE DISPLAYED HORSE RACE BETS WILL BE SETTLED AT THE APPROPRIATE TOTE ODDS AND ALL BETS ON GREYHOUND RACING WILL BE MADE VOID. HORSE RACE TRICAST AND UNNAMED FAVOURITES WILL BE MADE VOID.
Related Contingencies :
Multiple bets are not accepted where the outcome of one part of the bet contributes to the outcome of another. If taken in error the stakes will be equally divided where they clash.
Example:
£10 Double, Henman to win by 3 sets to 1 and to win the match outright is settled as 2x£5 Singles
However, where the related parts of the bet are resolved at different times the bet will be settled as instructed, with the price for the second or subsequent legs being determined at each individual stage.
Example:
£10 Double, Henman to win Semi-Final @ 3.50 with Henman to win the tournament outright @ 3.00, is settled as a £10 Double, Henman to win Semi-Final @ 3.50 with the price for Henman to win outright being the odds on offer after winning the Semi-Final. In the event of Henman losing either the Semi-Final or Final, the bet is lost.
Rigging :
Where there is evidence of Price, Race, Match or Event rigging, we reserve the right to make bets void or withhold payment of returns pending the outcome of any subsequent investigation.
Claims and Disputes :
No claims or disputes will be considered more than 12 weeks after the date of the original transaction.
In the first instance, all claims / disputes should be raised with our Customer Services Department . In the event of our Customer Relations representatives being unable to resolve your dispute, it may be submitted to a mutually acceptable recognised body for arbitration and their decision will be final so long as the full facts are presented by all of the parties concerned.
A difference of opinion regarding any bet, or the terms on which a bet should be settled, shall not be the subject of litigation, court action or objection to a Bookmaker's Licence or Permit unless the dispute has been adjudicated upon by an arbitrator in accordance with these Rules and the decision of the arbitrator has not been implemented by the relevant party.
Ante Post Betting (Future Bets) :
Ante Post prices are those offered on:
Horse Racing prior to the overnight declaration stage (usually 10.00am on the day before the race).
Greyhound events up to and including the Semi-Final stage. Any bets placed after the Semi-Finals or on a single race event will be settled on an Early Bird 'non-runner - no bet' basis.
Any other events (except on the result of a match), regardless of the day that the bet is placed.
Ante Post bets are accepted all in, run or not, entered or not. With the exception of outright bets on golf tournaments, stakes are lost on an Ante Post bet if a selection does not take part. No Tattersalls' Rule 4 deductions are made from winning bets (except in the circumstances of (d) (iv). (See Rules for individual sports for further details of non-racing events.)
All Each-Way Doubles, Trebles etc. are settled win to win, place to place.
If a race is postponed to another day:
Ante Post bets placed before the entries have closed will stand and will only be made void if:-
The race is abandoned or made void.
A horse is balloted out under Jockey Club Rules of Racing.
The venue is altered.
Ante Post bets placed after the entries have closed will be void, except when:-
The race is run at a later date at the same venue.
The entries are not re-opened.
The running surface is not altered (e.g. Turf to Dirt/ All Weather or vice versa.
Ante Post bets are settled at the price and place terms applicable at the time of acceptance. Should a wrong price or place terms be given in error we reserve the right to settle the bet at the correct price/place terms that were available at the time the bet was struck.
Place only bets, conditional bets and forecast betting are not accepted at Ante Post odds. If taken in error, Place only and Forecast bets will be void, the conditional part of any Ante Post bet will be disregarded.
Where the same selection is backed to win two or more Ante Post events in an accumulative bet a special combined price will apply irrespective of any individual odds quoted. Where no special combined price is available e.g. a horse to win a Derby trial and the Derby, settlement will be based on the first available odds after each leg has been completed.

Athletics :

Bets that nominate ‘to win on points’ will only be deemed winners if the full number of rounds are completed. If a boxer fails to answer the bell, the fight will be deemed to have ended in the previous round. A player is deemed to have played once they have teed off. In the event of a player withdrawing after having teed off, stakes will be lost on outright, group, match or 18 hole betting.
Outright Betting : Non-runner - no bet. Play-offs will determine the tournament winner. Dead heat rules will apply for placings
72-hole Match Betting : The winner will be the player achieving the highest placing at the end of the tournament (playoffs included). If one player misses the cut, the other is deemed the winner. Where both players miss the cut the lowest score after the cut has been made will determine settlement. If one player is disqualified, either prior to the completion of two rounds or after both players have made the cut, the other player is deemed the winner. If a player is disqualified during either the 3rd or 4th rounds, when his opponent has already missed the cut, the disqualified player is deemed the winner. A price will be offered for the tie and in the event of a tie bets on either player to win will be lost. Where a match bet involves three players (threesome) the conditions listed above will apply, except in the event of a tie where dead heat rules will apply. Non-runner - threesome void.
Group Betting / Top UK Player etc.: Groups will consist of four or more players and the winner will be the player achieving the highest placing at the end of the tournament. Any player missing the cut will be considered a loser. If all players miss the cut, the lowest score after the cut has been made will determine settlement. Players are grouped together for betting purposes only. Non-runner - no bet, deductions in line with Tattersalls' Rule 4(c) will apply. Dead heat rules apply except where the winner is determined by a play-off.
18 Hole Betting : The winner will be the player with the lowest score over 18 holes. In the event of a 2 or 3 ball being rearranged, bets will be settled on the original pairings / groups. Non-runner - 2 or 3 ball void. In 2 ball betting where a price is not offered for the tie, then bets will be void in the event of this happening. If a price is offered for a tie this will govern settlement. Dead heat rules will apply to 3 ball betting.
When special bets are offered grouping more than 3 players together over 18 holes (e.g. 7-ball, 9-ball, etc) dead-heat rules apply. Non-runner no-bet. Deductions in line with Tattersalls' Rule 4(c) will apply.
Dead Heat In a DEAD HEAT for a place the stake money on a selection is divided by the number of runners involved in the dead heat.
The full odds are then paid to the divided stake, with the remainder of the stake money being lost. E.g. a £30.00 each way bet @ 10/1 on a player who shares third place with two other players. As there are now three players sharing the same placing this reduces your bet to a £10.00 each way bet at the same odds of 10/1. Your remaining stake would be lost.
Greyhounds :
These are the rules for betting on Greyhound Racing on the William Hill Web Site, (www.willhill.com, www.williamhill.co.uk)
Results :
All bets on Greyhounds placed via the Website are placed on the Trap Number and not the named Greyhound. This is displayed on your bet confirmation. Payment will be made on the official result of races. Bets will be void in the event of no Starting Price being returned. William Hill reserves the right to declare void any bets where it considers there to be reasonable suspicion or evidence of unfair price manipulation.
Each Way Betting :
The place part of each-way bets in races of 5 to 7 runners will be settled at 1/4 odds for the first and second and in races of 8 runners at 1/5 the odds for the first, second and third. In races of less than 5 runners, the place part goes on to win. Place only bets are not accepted.
Forecasts :
Any forecast which includes a non-runner will be settled as a Win Single on the remaining selection.
In the event of two or more greyhounds 'dead heating' for first or second place, separate dividends will be declared and paid to each qualifying forecast.
We accept Forecast doubles and trebles. Forecast accumulators are not accepted.

Tricasts will be settled according to the Starting Price Computer Tricast returns for eligible races. The Tricast dividend is a computer-generated dividend based on the Starting Prices of all runners in a race. The Tricast dividend is declared to a £1 unit stake.
A Tricast containing a non-runner will be settled as a Computer Straight Forecast on the remaining selections in the order as given and in the case of two non-runners will be settled as a win single at Starting Price on the remaining selection.
In the event of two or more horses 'dead heating' for first, second or third place, separate dividends will be declared and paid to each qualifying Tricast.

Trap Challenge :
Prices are offered for each trap to win the most races at one selected meeting or alternatively at two selected greyhound meetings combined.
The Trap Challenge is unaffected by reserves, vacant traps, void races or meetings abandoned once they have started.
In the event of one meeting not starting all Trap Challenge bets containing this meeting are void.
If a race finishes as a dead heat each trap will receive a 'half-win' (3 way dead heat 'one third-win' etc).
If two or more traps record the same number of wins, dead heat rules apply.
Any Trap Challenge bet accepted after the 'off' of the first race will be void win or lose.
If the meeting(s) has been omitted and no qualifying price has been laid bets will stand for the first Trap Challenge to take place after the bet has been accepted.
Re-Runs and Void Races :
Where a race is re-run all bets stand, however, where a Price has been taken, settlement will be at the Starting Price returned on the re-run. Should a race be declared void and not re-run, all selections will be treated as non-runners.

Horse Racing :
These are the rules for betting on Horse Racing on the William Hill Web Site, (www.willhill.com, www.williamhill.co.uk)
Tattersalls' Rules :
Bets on horseracing are governed by 'Tattersalls' Rules of Betting', and form the basis of these rules. Tattersalls' Rules or an official announcement of Tattersalls' Committee will govern the settlement of bets should a situation arise not covered by these rules.
Ante-Post :
Ante Post prices are those offered on horse racing prior to the overnight declaration stage (usually 10.00am on the day before the race). Unless otherwise stated at the time of acceptance, ante-post bets are accepted on the basis of ‘all-in run or not’ and ‘all-in enter or not’. Selections not taking part in the race/event concerned count as losers. Bets placed after the overnight declaration stage on selections which do not take part will be void and stakes will be returned.
If a race is postponed to another day and overnight declarations stand, then Ante Post bets stand. However, Single Ante Post bets on horse racing will be made void and any selection involved in accumulative bets will be treated as a non-runner if:
The race is abandoned.
The race is officially declared void.
The conditions of the race are altered after bets are made (as defined under Tattersalls' Rules).
A horse is balloted out under Jockey Club Rules of Racing.
The venue is altered.
The running surface is altered (e.g. Turf to Dirt / All Weather or vice versa)
Late Withdrawals :
Where a horse is withdrawn before coming under Starter's orders, or is officially deemed by the Starter to have taken no part in the race, stakes will be returned on the withdrawn horse and winning bets will be subject to deductions in accordance with Tattersalls' Rule 4(c). The rate of deduction will be based on the following scale:-
Current price at withdrawal Deductions in the £
1.11 or lower £0.90
1.12 to 1.19 £0.85
1.20 to 1.27 £0.80

15.01 and higher no deductions made
In the event of two or more horses being withdrawn before coming under Starter's orders, the total deductions shall not exceed £0.75 in £.
Should a horse be withdrawn and a new market formed, then any bets laid at 'Show' prices prior to the new show will be subject to the above deductions. In the event of a further withdrawal after the market has been re-formed, bets placed at 'Show' prices in the original market will be subject to a further deduction based on the price of the withdrawn horse in the original market. Bets placed in the new market will be subject to a deduction based on the current price.
The above scale will also apply in the case of non-runners in Early Bird races and will be used for other events where we specifically advertise that deductions in line with 'Tattersalls' Rule 4(c) will apply'.
Place Terms :
The place part of each way bets will be calculated on the number of runners taking part in the race as follows:
Number of
Runners Place Fraction Number of
places paid
All Races:
2 - 4 All To win 1
5 - 7 1/4 2
8 or more 1/5 3
If a Handicap
12-15 1/4 3
16 or more 1/4 4
Place only bets are not accepted unless explicitly offered.
Re-Runs :
In the event of a false start etc. resulting in a race being re-run, 'Under Starters Orders' is negated and stakes will be refunded on horses taking no part in the re-run, with returns on the remaining runners subject to Tattersalls' Rule 4(c). The number of runners taking part in the re-run governs Place terms.
Walk-Overs and Void Horse Races
Walkovers and void races count as races but any horse so involved will be treated as a non-runner for settling purposes.
Favourites :
Bets for the un-named favourite in horse races are accepted as win only. Where two or more runners are returned at the same shortest odds i.e. joint or co-favourites, stakes will be divided and invested equally on each runner. Should the favourite be withdrawn before coming under StarterÂ’s orders but too late for a new market to be formed, bets involving the favourite are void.
Forecast Betting (First and Second) :
Forecasts are accepted on horse racing for named selections as a Computer Straight Forecast (CSF) (correct order) in races of 3 or more runners. The CSF is a computer-generated dividend based on the Starting Prices of all runners in a race. The CSF dividend is declared to a £1 stake.
Should a Starting Price not be returned, forecast bets will be void, win or lose, and stakes refunded.
In races where a horse finishes alone, all Forecast bets nominating that horse to finish first will be settled as a Win single at Starting Price on the winning horse. All other Forecast bets in the race are lost.
Should a non-runner be selected in a Forecast bet, the bet will be settled as a Win Single on the remaining selection. In reversed or combination Forecasts, each Forecast is treated separately.
In the event of two or more horses 'dead heating' for first or second place, separate dividends will be declared and paid to each qualifying forecast.
Forecast doubles and trebles are accepted, but accumulators are not accepted on horseracing.
Tricast Betting (First, Second and Third) :
Tricast bets require the selection of the first, second and third in correct order. The Tricast dividend is a computer-generated dividend based on the Starting Prices of all runners in a race. The Tricast dividend is declared to a £1 unit stake.
Tricast betting is generally offered in handicap races of 6 or more runners, where full race by race results are announced by SIS and from time to time, in certain other races providing the result and return are announced by SIS.
Where the actual runners fall below 6, or a Tricast is not declared, the bet will be settled as a Computer Straight Forecast on the first two selections in the order as given, with the third selection disregarded.
Tricast doubles, etc are not accepted.
Aggregate Favourite Market :
Scoring System:
25 points for a win
10 points for a second
5 points for third
Where there are joint favourites the one with the lowest race card number will be taken.
If no SP returned, the favourite will be the first runner quoted in the Racing Post betting forecast.
If the favourite is withdrawn and no new market formed, the second favourite will be substituted for the favourite.
All bets will be settled on the official result after the weigh-in.
If the meeting is not completed bets will stand provided the winning market has already been established.
In the event of a walkover, the favourite will make-up at 25 points.
Aggregate Distances Market :
The maximum make-up per race is 12 lengths for flat races, 30 lengths for National Hunt races (incl. National Hunt flat races).
Official winning distances are calculated as follows:
Dead Heat: 0 Neck: 0.3
Short Head: 0.1 ½ length: 0.5
Head: 0.2 ¾ length: 0.75
¼ length: 0.25
In the event of a horse finishing alone, the maximum make-up will apply.
In the event of a walkover, the distance will make-up at 5 lengths for a Flat race, 12 lengths for a National Hunt race.
If the meeting is not completed bets will stand provided the winning market has already been established.
The winning distance in a race will be the officially declared distance between the first two horses past the post that have completed the race, followed the correct course and carried the correct weight.
Objections and Disqualifications :
Objections, disqualifications and amended results subsequent to the 'weighed in' announcement will be disregarded.
Information & Rules For Horse Racing (Non UK and Ireland) :
Bets are accepted for selected races taking place outside Great Britain and Ireland. In countries where there is no Starting Price market in operation (e.g. France, USA), bets are settled at Pari-Mutuel returns unless, where appropriate, William Hill odds are available and selected. (Please note that in some countries’ Pari-Mutuel systems, some horses are ‘coupled’ in win pools, usually where the horses have the same owner. Coupling does not normally extend to place or forecast pools, although in some races, particularly in America, coupling can on occasion apply to all pools).
In the case of American racing, the place part of each way bets where no William Hill price has been selected will be settled by reference to the “Show” dividend. In races with only Win and Place pools, the “Place” dividend applies for each way bets. If forecast betting is to be offered on any race taking place outside of Great Britain and Ireland, the conditions will be clearly stated on the website.
Ice Hockey :
All ice hockey games must start on the scheduled date for bets to have action.

In the event of an amended result, the podium presentation will count as the 'weigh-in' and this will determine settlement of bets.
Match Betting (Driver v. Driver) : In the event of neither driver finishing, the number of laps completed will determine settlement. If both drivers complete the same number of complete laps, bets will be void.
The start of any race is defined as the signal to start the warm-up lap.

These are the rules for betting on Special and Political Markets on the William Hill Web Site, (www.willhill.com, www.williamhill.co.uk)

Budget Speech: Settlement of betting on the length of the Chancellor's speech will be based on the information supplied by the Press Association.
US Election: All bets are settled on the winner of the election not on the person who is inaugurated.

Soccer :
These are the rules for betting on Soccer on the William Hill Web Site, (www.willhill.com, www.williamhill.co.uk)
Acceptance :
Bets are accepted only on matches where William Hill offers prices and all winning bets will be settled at accumulative odds based on the individual prices shown on our website coupons. In the event of a bet being accepted that contains a match for which no quotation has been made, that match will be treated as a 'non-runner' and the remaining selections will be settled subject to fulfilling the requirements of Rule 2. below.
All odds are subject to fluctuation and amendment and are based on the result at full-time. The terms 'full-time', '90 minutes play' and 'normal time' are all used to denote the period of play which includes time added by match officials for stoppages, but not scheduled extra time, penalty shoot-outs etc. Settlement will be at the price prevailing at the time the bet was placed and confirmed.
Dates and kick-off times of matches shown on our coupon are for guidance purposes only.
Selections for match betting are indicated by the following convention: symbol '1' to indicate a win for the team shown on the left (home team), 'X' for a draw and '2' to indicate a win for the team shown on the right (away team). In the event of a match being played on a neutral ground the team shown on the left will be regarded as the home side, and the team shown on the right as the away side.
Bets will be accepted up to the advertised kick-off time. If a bet is inadvertently accepted which includes a match after its kick-off time, the match will be treated as a 'non-runner' and the bet will be settled on the remaining selections, except in the following circumstances:
i) 'Betting in Running' is available. In which case settlement will be at the current odds quoted at the time the bet is accepted.
ii) 'Betting in Running' is not available but the bet is accepted up to 5 minutes after kick-off time and no goals have been scored.
We reserve the right to refuse the whole or part of any bet. No postal, telephone, telex or fax wagers are accepted.
Minimum Selections :
The minimum number of teams allowed in any football bet is as advertised or as detailed at the head of each list on our website coupons. Incomplete lists will stand provided the minimum requirements are met. Bets which do not meet the minimum requirement for the list nominated will stand provided the bet is acceptable for another website coupon. A line that does not meet the minimum requirements will be void or reduced to include only the valid selections. A valid entry consists only of valid matches and matches already resolved on preceding days will not count as such to make up minimum requirements.
Postponed or Abandoned Matches :
An unplayed, postponed or abandoned match will be treated as a 'non-runner' for settling purposes unless it is played during the same 'football week' (Monday - Monday (GMT/BST Time)), in which case the bet will stand unless cancelled by mutual consent. If 'non-runners' reduce an accumulator, the remaining selections will be settled irrespective of the minimums detailed in Rule 2. Under no circumstances will the judgement of any 'Pools Panel' be accepted as a result.
Any match which is abandoned before the completion of 90 minutes play will be void with multiple bets being settled on the remaining selections. This ruling applied to all lists with the exception of:-
1. Bets involving 'first player to score', 'next goalscorer' or time of first goal, where bets will stand provided the first/next goal has been scored at the time of abandonment.
2. Soccerstats or certain special bets where the winning market has already been established and no other outcome is possible.
3. For half-time coupon see rule 8.
Re-Arranged Matches :
In the event of a change of venue not published or made known to us at the time coupons are published, bets will stand provided the venue is not switched to the opponents' ground, in which case selections for that match will be made void.
If a team plays a different opponent to the one stated on the coupon, that selection will be void and the remaining selections will be settled irrespective of the minimums contained in Rule 2.
Handicap List :
For the purpose of deciding results on the Handicap List, a number of goals (or half-goals) is added to, or subtracted from, the total goals scored by the away team. Settlement on the Handicap List will be at the special odds shown alongside its matches, using the actual score in the match adjusted for the 'handicap'.
Double Result (Half Time/Full Time or 45/90 Betting) :
Bets predicting the Double Result must indicate the result at both Half-Time and Full-Time.
Half Time Coupon :
Bets must indicate the result at Half-Time. Settlement will be based on the odds shown on our Half-Time coupon. Matches abandoned after half-time will not affect settlement of Half-Time coupon bets. The term '45 minutes play' denotes the period of play up to Half-Time, including injury time.
First / Last Player to Scorer :
very effort will be made to quote First Goalscorer/Last Goalscorer odds for all possible participants. However, other players will always be quoted on request and will count as winners should they score the first/last goal. Bets on First Goalscorer’s that are substituted/ sent off before the first goal is scored are treated as losing selections. Bets on players not taking part in the match will be void. Bets on First Goalscorer where the selection comes on after the first goal is scored will be void. All players that take part in a match will be considered ‘runners’ for Last Goalscorer purposes. Should there be any doubt as to whether a bet is intended for First Goalscorer/Last Goalscorer, in all cases it will be settled on the First Goalscorer.
In the event of a dispute over the award of a goal, for betting purposes settlement will be based on the goalscorer listed by the Press Association immediately the match has finished. Please note that own goals do not count. Any subsequent alterations to Press Association records will not count.
Where there is more than one player with the same surname and the selection has not been identified by either the first name, team or qualifying price, the player with the lowest advertised price will be taken as the selection. In the event of one or more players being quoted at the lowest advertised price dead heat rules will apply.
Own goals do not count.
Each Way First Goalscorer :
Singles and upwards accepted.
The place part of each-way bets will be settled at one half the odds on the first, second and third goals ONLY. Players who do not score until after three goals have been scored, will be treated as losing selections.
William Hill Betting Shop Rules Online
If less then three goals are scored then settlement will be based on the actual goals scored. Where no goals are scored all each-way bets will be treated as losing selections.
Where a player scores the first goal, both the win and place part of the bet are successful and will be settled at the appropriate win and place odds. If the same player scores the second or third goal no additional winnings will be paid.
Where a player scores the second or third goal, the place part of the bet is successful. If the same player scores the second and third goals, no additional winnings will be paid for the third goal.
Where the selection does not take part, or comes on after the first goal is scored, both the win and place part of the bet will be void.

In divisional betting, with the exception of league winners, the finishing position of teams at the end of the scheduled programme of matches will determine placings with no allowance for play-offs or subsequent enquiries by the respective leagues. In Serie A, for example, teams tied on the same number of points are not separated by goal average/difference. Therefore play-offs will count when the finishing positions of teams are determined.
